Tulisan yang bertajuk (Q&A Beasiswa) adalah semua kumpulan tulisan terkait pertanyaan mengenai beasiswa di semua jenjang. Semoga memudahkan! saya merangkum beberapa pertanyaan yang hampir sama agar lebih mudah kepada para penanya untuk Saya beri jawaban.

Kali ini saya akan memberikan informasi terkait letter of application. Sebagai informasi, jika Anda hendak melamar beasiswa melalui jalus PhD position seperti yang saya ceritakan di sini, maka Anda membutuhkan Letter of Application. LA ini sebenarnya adalah surat lamaran yang biasanya ditulis ketika hendak melamar. Secara umum isinya tentang PhD position yang kita lamar (berisi nomor referensi job-nya), kemudian latar belakang kita secara singkat, serta kenapa kita tertarik dan cocok dengan posisi yang kita lamar. Berikut saya lampirkan contoh lamaran saya ke Microlab TU Delft-Belanda. Alhamdulillah lamaran dari LA ini termasuk yang akhirnya dipanggil wawancara.

Dear Dr. Guang Ye

I am writing in response to the advertisement as regard vacancy for a PhD position with reference number of CITG14-01 in long-term performance of geopolymer concrete, at The School of Civil Engineering and Geosciences, TU Delft. I respectfully submit this letter of application, for I believe my experiences are well qualified to meet the needs of the project.

I am Ario Muhammad, 27 years old from Indonesia. I have a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree graduated with honors from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) and then awarded a Master Scholarships from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST) to pursue my master degree on Construction Engineering Department of NTUST. I have the experience as a researcher at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST) conducted the research about numerical modeling to analyze composite materials, structural health monitoring and signal analysis. Currently, I am a junior lecturer of the Narotama University teaching some subjects related to structural engineering. Besides being a lecturer for undergraduate student, I also conduct a research about numerical analysis on structural engineering and implementation of programming language for construction engineering needed.

The opportunity to be a PhD student at TU Delft as the part of your research group will be very helpful to improve my research skill. The numerical modeling and laboratory works on geopolymer concrete are wonderful topics that motivate me on joining your research group.

Besides working as a researcher and lecturer, I also active on being a chief in several social organizations given me a good qualification, adaptibility, curiosity and independancy. I am also used to team work which gives me a good communication skill. I am also a fast learner who likes challenges. The experiences on being a moderator in international conference and also the committee to arrange 4^th Asian Concrete Federation (ACF) Conference in Taiwan proved that I am good on communicating using English. My publication in some journals and being the reviewer of International Journal of Engineering (IJE) also showed my capability on writing in English.

My curriculum vitae, lists of publication, and one page summary of my M.Sc thesis are enclosed, contains additional information about my research experience and skill. I also provide two recommendation letters in the last page of my application document.
